Marelco Power Systems (MPS)



MPS manufactures custom magnetic components, including transformers, inductors, and power supplies. Products range in size from 500VA to 2MVA in voltages from 0 through 13.6KV. Power supply designs can be AC or DC with convection or water cooling.

MPS can provide its customers the base transformer for their in-house power supply assembly, through complete turnkey systems. MPS delivers product to any custom specifications and with custom enclosures.

Medium Voltage
Transformers & Magnetics

Marelco manufactures custom inductors, reactors and chokes. Designs can be low or medium voltage and up to 10,000 AMPS in current. With our patented distributed gap core designs we can limit the losses and improve the overall performance of the units. Marelco has an extensive history designing these products for motor drives, rectifier equipment, industrial heating and power quality applications.

Any application which requires more than one transformer, a transformer and DC power supply, or similar variation should be evaluated as a potential combination product. By designing a transformer product with multiple isolated secondaries that share a common core, Marelco can design and manufacture a component which replaces a number of transformers and power supplies with a single unit.

Cost savings is realized by reducing the time it takes to install a number of individual components. Heat within the electrical panel and the panel space requirements can be reduced by including the smaller transformer in the larger exterior mounted unit. Component cost can be reduced because the typical combination product's cost is lower than the combined purchase price of the equipment it replaces.

Marelco transformer disconnects can be used wherever auxiliary 120 volt, single phase independent power is needed. The unit is wired directly to the line side of the main panel disconnect switch, providing uninterrupted auxiliary power for panel lighting and portable power tools. Marelco transformer disconnects feature electrostatically shielded secondaries for improved electrical noise attenuation making them an ideal power source for PLCs, CNCs, and other sensitive electronic equipment.

Marelco has been manufacturing custom single phase transformers for 30 years. Designs can range in size from .500VA to 500KVA, and up to 14.4KV in voltage. Our single phase transformers can be custom designed for your specific application. Design considerations will include items such as physical size, terminals, heat rise, and optional NEMA enclosure.

Marelco has been manufacturing custom AC and DC power supplies for over 20 years for many applications including, but not limited to, industrial heating, vacuum furnaces, semiconductor processes, and crystal growing.

As a custom manufacturer, we have the ability to design and manufacture a custom component for a specific application or to replicate an existing design to match the form, fit, and function for current production models or field replacements.

We can offer our customers the flexibility of purchasing a basic transformer component with or without circuit protection components to be installed in their existing power supply designs. If complete power supply designs are desired, we have the capability to produce power supplies with SCR or PWM controls at whatever level of closed loop feedback the end user requires. We offer a wide range of panel and enclosure options, as well as convection or water cooled systems to match the customer's design requirements.

Marelco is a UL recognized 508A electrical control panel manufacturer. We have the ability to provide UL, CSA, IEC, and CE certifications for standalone devices or integrated AC and DC power supplies and systems.

95% of the three phase transformers manufactured by Marelco are custom designed for our customer's specific applications. Primary and secondary voltage configurations, enclosure designs, mounting dimensions, and temperature rise ratings are just some of the items that are taken into consideration when assessing cumstomer requirements.
